Do I need Soil?
Your laying a new lawn. You want it to be perfect, but you are unsure if the soil you have down is suitable.
Your Soil should not be filled with very large stones or any other debris. It Should have a crumbling fine texture which makes your soils easier to work with. Soil also needs to be fairly level, to ensure this we recommend having at least a 15 cm of depth to your soil. Topsoil should also have some nutrients. Once the turf is laid the nutrients will help the roots establish and encourage a healthier garden. So, if the soil in your garden is shallow, Stoney or very uneven, bringing in topsoil before you lay turf is a sensible investment.
Here at South Devon Turf we have a remarkable Blended Loam.
