What the best turf for dogs?
Sadly, no turf is 100% dog proof especially when it comes to urine in dry weather. However, some turf copes better with our four-legged friends.
Dog urine is high in nitrogen, which is good in small amounts, but bad when your dog chooses the same spot repeatedly. Similar to over fertilization, repeated exposure to dog urine can burn the roots of your grass, creating brown, dead spots, leaving your lawn damaged.
Natural turf vs artificial
Natural turf is still the preferred option for dog lovers. The grass and the root system offer a natural cleaning solution for dog urine compared to artificial lawns which will retain the urine and the odour.
Natural turf can self-repair if dogs cause damage and natural turf laid on soil is a far safer and more enjoyable playing environment for your pets than a hot and course plastic surface laid on top of concrete or hardcore.
