Seed Quality matters:

South Devon Turf are your local stockist of Turf Grade lawn seed. Grass seed can be found from countless stockists online, or in garden centres and diy stores... However, the good quality seed is ussually reserved for turf production and professional sport, including Football, Rugby and Golf.

The remaining seed is then sold for domestic use, but it may not of met the standard required for proffessional use because the percentage of weed grass is too high, or more concerningly, the germination rate is too low. Also, seed loses its vigour over time so its really important to make sure the seed is not too old.

For each type of grass, there are hundreds of different breeds, and each breed will have it's benefits and charachteristics like colour, density, disease tolerance and much more. We select the best cultivars, and we dont just use the STRI testing, we test each cultivar in local soil, because seed that works in 1 type of soil, may not work another.

Finally, it's really important to make sure the blend of seed has the right grasses for you! Seed suppliers will often add cheap, plentiful seed such as Browntop Bent to a domestic mixture, when it really has no benefit to the end user, and put very low quantities of the good stuff in the bag, but enough to claim it has beneficial attributes.

Supina Shade and Wear Seed 

 

This Supina blend offers Extremely high shade tolerance, high durability and fantastic appearance. A very rare lawn seed originating in the German Alps. Please note: All seed should be sown when temperatures are consistently above 10c. The seed must have good contact with the soil. Seed will not germinate without good, consistent moisture in the soil. A fertiliser is recommended when seeding and follow up treatment will be required to thicken the coverage. Sold in 1kg boxes which will cover 40m2.

MeglioPlus+ Platinum Lawn Seed

MeglioPlus+ specialist lawn seed. Matches what has now become our most popular turf product. Each seed tub covers up to 50m2 for initial seeding or up to 100m2 or overseeding. All seed should be sown when temperatures are consistently above 10c. The seed must have good contact with the soil. Seed will not germinate without good, consistent moisture in the soil. A fertiliser is recommended when seeding.

Seed Repair Pouches 

We offer seed repair pouches to match our Meglio Lawn Turf, and also our MeglioPlus+ turf. The pouches are great for repairing damage and will repair approximately 4m2.

The MeglioPlus+ pouch is also suitable for overseeding our Supreme Shade and wear turf. The seed mixture has different ratios but the same type of seed, so it will be perfect for blending in to the Shade & Wear turf, without the extra cost of the Supreme shade and wear seed.

For anybody doing innitial seeding and requiring the full rate Supreme shade and wear lawn, the smallest packs we offer are the 1kg boxes above.
